Square and Church of Santa Domenica

Heading along Via Giovanni di Giovanni towards the Villa Comunale Park, after walking fifty meters, I found myself in a small square. Here is a small church (Chiesetta di S.Domenico), presumably, which gave the name of the square. The exact date of construction is unknown, but you can navigate the first entry in the register of the parish of St. Domenica, on October 22, 1628, the baptism of a newborn named Maria Giovanna Marino was recorded there. The architecture of the church is very modest and does not have a clearly defined style. The interior is also very simple, only the magnificent main altar stands out, completely made of red Taormina marble, decorated with inlays and mosaics. The church is open daily in the morning from 8 to 12:30 and in the evening from 16 to 21.
